Beyond Conservation Toolkit launched
March 16, 2023
The National Boreal Caribou Knowledge Consortium (NBCKC) has launched a new 'toolkit' on its website aiming to improve how non-Indigenous people carry out conservation and stewardship work with Indigenous nations and communities.
The toolkit, called Beyond Conservation: A Toolkit for Respectful Collaboration with Indigenous Peoples, created from the work of the NBCKC’s Indigenous Knowledge Circle, provides resources and information on how to build and maintain trusting relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people and suggestions on how to achieve better success in conservation and stewardship work.
NBCKC is) made up of a network of experts who work together to advance knowledge about boreal caribou ecology and conservation. The Wek'èezhìı Renewable Resources Board (WRRB) is among several organizations across Canada involved with the consortium that include academia, Indigenous communities, industry, and conservation groups.
