Evidence that the Cape Bathurst, Bluenose-West and Bluenose-East Calving Grounds are not Theoretical and Justification for Division of the "Bluenose" Herd in to the Cape Bathurst, Bluenose-West, and Bluenose-East Herds

This DRAFT report by John Nagy provides evidence that the Cape Bathurst, Bluenose-West and Bluenose-East calving grounds are not theoretical and justification for the division of the "Bluenose" herd.

Science
Population Estimates for the Cape Bathurst and Bluenose-West Barren-Ground Caribou Herds Using Post Calving Photography

This DRAFT report by John Nagy provides a description of how the retrospective analyses of the 1986, 1987, and 1992 photocensus survey data were done to derive population estimates of the Cape Bathurst, Bluenose-West & East herds, the methods used to generate population estimates of the herds during 1986, 1987, 1992, 2000, 2005, and 2006, and an evaluation of the fidelity of cows and bulls to post-calving/early summer ranges.

Science
Calving Ground Surveys of the Ahiak Herd of Barren Ground Caribou June 2006-2008

This DRAFT report by Johnson et al. reports the results of three systematic transect surveys of the Ahiak calving ground conducted June 2006, June 2007, and June 2008.  Figures from this report will be posted separately.

Determining Optimal Radio-Collar Sample Sizes for Monitoring Barren-Ground Caribou Populations

This report by W. Rettie addresses two complementary uses of radio-colars to monitor dynamics in barren-ground caribou populations in the Northwest Territories.

Science
A Geostatistical Analysis for the Patterns of Caribou Occupancy on the Bathurst Calving Grounds 1966-2007

This report by Gunn et al. describes variations in the location, size and shape of the Bathurst calving grounds, describes the patterns and predictability of caribou occupation of their calving grounds, and recommends how to use the currently available monitoring data to establish calving ground boundaries that reflect the probability of the location and occupation of their calving grounds.

Science
Satellite Collaring in the Bathurst Herd of Barren-Ground Caribou, 1996-2005

This report by Gunn et al. compiles information about the collaring program and chronology of collaring.  Satellite-collared caribou locations have been used to describe season and annual movements.

Calf:Cow Ratios Estimated at or Near the Peak of Calving for the Bluenose-West Herd, 2002 to 2005

This DRAFT report by Nagy and Johnson reports the results of four annual post-calving classification surveys completed for the BluenoseWest herd during 2002 to 2005 and the results of analyses completed to map the distribution of cows and calves on the calving grounds.

Science
Calf:Cow Ratios Estimated at or Near the Peak of Calving for the Cape Bathurst Herd, 2002 to 2006

This DRAFT report by Nagy and Johnson the results of surveys that were conducted on the calving grounds of the Cape Bathurst herd each year from 2002 to 2006 are reported along with the results of analyses completed to map the distribution of cows and calves on the calving grounds.
