Community Consultations August 12-15 on Proposed Listing for Boreal Caribou under the Species at Risk (NWT) Act
August 07, 2013
In December, 2012, the NWT Species at Risk Committee assessed Boreal caribou as Threatened. The assessment was based on a status report containing the best available traditional, community and scientific knowledge.
Boreal caribou are now being considered for a listing decision in the NWT under the Species at Risk (NWT) Act, and representatives from the WRRB and the Tłı̨chǫ Government will be holding community consultations next week to help determine if Boreal caribou should be added to the NWT List of Species at Risk as Threatened. See this Species at Risk Fact Sheet on Boreal Caribou for more information. Additional information is also available on the NWT Species at Risk website: www.nwtspeciesatrisk.ca
Community consultations will take place in Whatì, Gamètì and Behchokǫ̀ .
