Bathurst Caribou Management Proposal Update

In July 2014, the Board received a joint management proposal for the Bathurst Caribou in Wek’èezhìı from the Tłı̨chǫ Government and the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT).  Kerri Garner, from Tłı̨chǫ Government's Lands Protection Department, and Bruno Croft, Environment and Natural Resources, GNWT, made a presentation to the WRRB at its July Board meeting in Wekweètì on the joint management proposal.  In their presentation, they noted that the proposal is intended to build on the Revised Joint Management Proposal submitted to the Board in May 2010.

The Board will assess the proposal, along with community consultation reports from both governments once they are available.  It will then determine its review process and make its recommendations.
