Welcome to our New Board Member!
June 17, 2014
The Board and staff are pleased to announce that the Tłı̨chǫ Government has recently appointed Eddie (Edward) Chocolate to the Wek’èezhìı Renewable Resources Board. As a former Chief of Gamètì, Eddie brings with him a wealth of experience.
In his role as Community Chief, Eddie was involved in a number of areas related to the management of the land and wildlife within Wekeezhii, including the Tłı̨chǫ Land Use Plan and caribou. As well, Eddie also focused on building relationships and partnerships with government and the mining industry to support programs and services for his community. Prior to his term as Chief, Eddie served as a Counselor on the Tłı̨chǫ Community Government in Gamètì from 2005 to 2009. During that time, he was involved in strategic planning and policy development.
Eddie has also worked for the NWT Power Corporation in his home community of Gamètì , first as a Plant Operator from 1987 to 1990, and then as Plant Superintendent from 1990 to 2009—and earlier worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Community Hamlet in Gameti from 1981 to 1984.
Outside of work, Eddie enjoys hunting, fishing and trapping; camping out on the land with other hunters and trappers, and sharing stories and knowledge of the land. His main hobby is reloading –loading firearm cartridges by assembling the individual components (case, hull, primer and powder)—which he has been doing for years.
As a new member of the WRRB, Eddie looks forward to working with other Members and contributing to the Board's growth. Eddie adds, “I am looking forward to sharing our traditional knowledge and learning of others’ ways,” a statement that reflects well the Tłı̨chǫ philosophy of being strong like two people.

Farewell to Charlie Rabesca
The Board and staff would also like to thank outgoing WRRB member Charlie Rabesca for his contributions to the Board over the past four years. Charlie was appointed to the Board by the Tłı̨chǫ Government in November 2009. Charlie's participation was a valuable asset to the Board and we wish him all the best in the future.
