Welcome to our Newest Board Member
January 09, 2013
We would like to welcome the newest member of the Wek’èezhìı Renewable Resources Board (WRRB), Suzanne Carrière, recently appointed by the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT).
As the Wildlife Biologist (Biodiversity) for the Wildlife Division, Department of the Environment and Natural Resources, GNWT in Yellowknife, Suzanne provides overall direction on biodiversity programs in the NWT. Suzanne’s expertise with wildlife issues and extensive background as a researcher, committee member, and field biologist will be an invaluable asset to the Board. Suzanne is a member of both the Species at Risk Committee (SARC) NWT and an appointed voting member from the NWT on the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC). She also serves on various working groups focused on biodiversity and status of wildlife in Canada.
We would also like to congratulate Bruce MacDonald and Grant Pryznyk who have been reappointed to the Board by the Government of Canada.
The membership of the WRRB is made up of appointees by the Tłįcho government and the governments of Canada and the Northwest Territories. One-half of its members are appointed by the Tłįcho Government, with the other half appointed by the federal and territorial governments. Together, they elect a Chairperson.
